You can't miss the Hill of Likavitos (also spelled as Lykavitos or Lycabettus plus some more variants). It's the highest hill in Athens, one of only two, with the other one being the Acropolis. So, you can't mix them up either, Likavitos is the one with the whitewashed chapel on the top, whereas the Acropolis is the one with the Parthenon plus some other ancient looking structures.

You can climb Mt. Likavitos by foot if you enjoy climbing in 40°C temperatures while the sun is scorching your skin and your heart is reaching the limits of its manufacturer's specifications. Or, if you're smart (or lazy) like me, you'll gladly pay the 4.50€ ticket (round trip) and catch the cablecar which departs every half hour from the corner of Ploutarchou and Aristippou St.

Once you're there, you can enjoy a very nice view of the city, watch the sunset and then turn around and watch the moonrise. It's very romantic, so bring your partner along but don't get any funny ideas, there's a lot of people around. You'll also find a restaurant there with spectacular views where you can enjoy drinks and/or dinner. It's kind of pricy, but what the heck, go ahead and splurge, you're worth it!

Recommended to visit in the evening about an hour or so before sunset. The restaurant is still half-empty so you won't have a problem getting a good table with a nice view.
